The perfect activities programme for your holiday in the Harz
Culture, sightseeing and adrenaline, all in one weekend?
The short answer: Yes, all this and more is possible during a short break in the Harz mountains! For example, you can visit the Wernigerode castle in the morning, take a stroll through the more than 40 beautiful rooms, before taking a trip with the Harzer narrow gauge railway up to the Brocken mountain, where you can marvel at the beautiful nature.
In the evening you can enjoy the traditional local cuisine in our restaurant in Wernigerode, before setting off on a night tour of Wernigerode. During this tour with a night watchman you get to see the town in a completely different light.
Spoilt for choice during a short break in the Harz mountains
After a solid breakfast at our 4-star hotel, you really are spoilt for choice: If you are looking for a real adrenaline kick during your short break, you can descend the dam wall at Wallrunningan. Alternatively, you can visit one of the interesting museums in Wernigerode and the surrounding region, such as the museum for aviation and technology. The forge, Harz and fire brigade museum and the Harz planetarium are also worth a visit.
Would you like to explore the beautiful region on your own? Then enjoy a hike or cycling tour in the Harz mountains. For this we recommend a trip to the national park for more excursion destinations: The Kaiserturm, the Agnesberg or the Plessenburg mountains are just three of many destinations that you can reach by bike or on foot from our hotel.
The Brocken - ideal for short winter breaks in the Harz
The Brocken mountain, at 1,411 m, is a real eye-catcher! It is not only the highest mountain in northern Germany, but also a great destination for a weekend break during the winter: A well as trails for cross-country skiing and ski slopes for beginners and pros, the Brocken also has great funparks for snowboarders.
We would be happy to help you plan your holiday in the Harz. And if you don't have time to do everything you planned, you will simply have to come back again soon!
